HELLO, DOLLY!: Coronavirus statement
(16/03 - AM)

With COVID-19 developing around the world, our commitment is to adhere fully to the protocols advised by the World Health Organisation, UK Government and Public Health England.

The Executive Committee has been actively following and monitoring current government advice and whilst current advice is to continue going to work and school as normal and no advice yet on the closure of public spaces, although this is imminent, the world of theatre along with sports and other leisure events, has seen a rapid decline of sales in the past few days, which is only set to decline further in the coming weeks.

With this and the absolute health and welfare of our members at the forefront of our minds, we have taken the decision to postpone our May show, Hello, Dolly!, with the intention to perform the show in our Autumn slot instead in November. Please note this is a postponement and not a cancellation.

We are committed to making each YMTC production as successful as possible and that goes across cast, crew and audiences. We have not taken this decision lightly, but feel that in the current forecasted climate and with the government prediction that the spread of Coronavirus is set to peak in May, our show month, we could not continue to rehearse for the next 8 weeks and face having to make this decision at a later date, when costs would have already been incurred on the show.

We share and empathise with the disappointment this will cause and it has been an incredibly hard decision for us to have to make, but hope we have your full cooperation and understanding at the necessary reasons behind this decision. We will be focusing all our efforts, when the tide has turned, into a fantastic, fun and healthy run of the show come November and we look forward to a return to normality and being back in the rehearsal room with you all very soon. Details of a revised rehearsal schedule will be sent out to cast and crew in due course.

Thank you all for the commitment and dedication to the show thus far, it is very much appreciated and valued and we look forward to wowing audiences with Hello, Dolly! further down the line.
