WARTIME SHOW LIT UP OUR LIVES
We are writing to you regarding York Musical Theatre Company’s show When The Lights Go On Again. The audience laughed every minute and we were particularly impressed with the set, music, costumes and the performances of all the cast.
Everyone put their hearts and souls into it, which in turn made the audience experience all the more pleasurable. It was a joyous celebration to mark the 60th anniversary since the Second World War ended. A special tribute must go to the ‘Andrews Sisters’ tribute and to the sketches, military settings and compering which added real panache. With a pantomime sketch that made us cry with laughter and then a dancing version of Cinderella with a Fairy Godmother who was Yorkshire, fag gasping comedian, and a tigger-like Prince Charming—all we could do was shout for more!

LIGHT OF OUR LIFE
Oh what a lovely War! Well, wartime extravaganza actually. We were thrilled to be part of the audience for When the Lights Go on Again by York Musical Theatre Company. From wartime tributes and memorabilia to going down Civvy Street and across to meet the Yanks. We were engrossed in one of the liveliest performances we have seen in a long time.. Paul Laidlaw’s production was first class.
The wartime radio Cinderella play reading was hilarious followed by the highlight of the evening with the Cinderella pantomime—we’ve never laughed quite so much! The Fairy Godmother was played by a guy whose facial expressions and comic delivery knocks spots off Berwick Kaler - we say move over Berwick, or at least a sidekick! A great night was had by all. This theatre company is the best in York. Oh yes it is!

NOSTALGIA NIGHT
Last night my wife and I saw WHEN THE LIGHTS GO ON AGAIN and what a great show it turned out to be. Congratulations to the Director Paul Laidlaw and the entire cast, particularly the children, for such a wonderful show. I did not realise nostalgia could be so enjoyable. The 1940’s style costumes and the singing were truly excellent. The only downside was that it was a one-night production otherwise; we would have urged our friends and relations not to miss this marvelous show.

LOUD AND PROUD
I was very pleased to be told I had won two tickets for When The Lights Go On Again at the Opera House. What a performance! It was a wonderful production, and everyone put 100% effort into the music, dancing, singing and very funny sketches. A great deal of credit must go to Paul Laidlaw, the Director, but York Musical Theatre Company should be very proud of their achievements.
